Been listening to this album for the last couple of days. Felt appropriate.
Marvin Gaye wrote What’s Going On because he was watching the world unravel.
Vietnam War.
Police brutality.
Racism.
Poverty.
Division.
His own brother came home from war with stories that changed him.
Instead of shouting, Marvin asked questions that still echo through song today.
Listening to it now, it feels less like a classic but still relevant today.
It just seems current.
It just seems like now.
Same pain.
Same divisions.
Different decade.
That’s timeless music.
That’s truth.
